Opioid Overdose Prevention & Narcan Training
Description
The Student Health & Wellness Center is excited to bring free Naloxone trainings presented by the OC Health Care Agency to campus.
The leading cause of unintentional injury death in the U.S. is drug overdose—surpassing motor vehicle crashes? Opioids, including prescription painkillers and heroin, account for most of these deaths (CDC, 2024). Today, the risk is even higher as powerful opioids like fentanyl are increasingly found in other substances—sometimes without people realizing it.Narcan (naloxone) is a life-saving medication that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose.
Join us for this important training where you will:
- Learn to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose
- Practice how to properly administer Narcan
- Understand the opioid crisis at both the national and local levels
- Get updates on emerging trends — new drugs, law changes, and the evolving illicit drug supply
Overdose deaths are preventable. Together, we can save lives.
RSVPs accepted through April 27, 2026 or until all training spots fill, whichever comes first. If you RSVP and are later unable to attend, please cancel your RSVP before April 26 so others have an opportunity to attend.
Charger Experience Program students will receive one (1) event credit for the spring 2026 semester for attending this event.
